I am living in the Blue Room now and it is so much more than I expected. My program of study told me not to expect many different things from the homestay, all of which I have here! Here you have wifi (so helpful for studying), privacy, use of the kitchen area, and so on. If none of this is appealing, the physical location could not be better. Right above AV. Santa Fe, a couple blocks from the subway, and a 10 minute walk to the obelisk. There are supermarkets, cheap but great restaurants, bars, gyms, pharmacies, clothes, shoes, and etc. all on this same block. Aside from Susana and her son Mattias, there is a French student making a documentary and me from the United States living here. In other words the company is great! The Green Room is all you need and very comfortable. It has a nice window with lots of natural light, and coming from the country side in the USA, that seems to be rare in this city!

I came to Buenos Aires to learn tango and spanish... At first I lived in a studio appt. by myself, but quickly realized that I would rather live with others... I tried finding a 4-5 person flat to live in with other people my age, but found them very uncomfortable arrangements... so I started looking for a family to live with and found Susana! I really improved my spanish there, and it was a great place to come home to--has its own privacy but at the same time a good, friendly atmosphere. Susana and I had some good dinners and discussions right before she or I were leaving for somewhere... Its a great location, very easy to get to everything I needed in BsAs, and also helps to have Susana tell you where to go... Fidel is a great pet... My room was the master room, had great lighting, a great bed, and a lot of privacy... Miss you Susana and Mattias!

I lived in the green room for 3 weeks and I liked it very much even though the room might be a little "girlish". It has a lot of light, a big closet, lots of drawers, a table at the window. There is WiFi internet access and the bathroom is good. You can use the kitchen with fridge and microwave and there is a big living room that is shared. The bed of the green room is ok and the room is quiet. But still... it is right at Avenida Santa Fe, so everything you need is close. Shops, laundry service, restaurants and bars, busses and the Subte metro is only 3 blocks away. If you study at the UBA at sede Cordoba, this apartment is perfect for you since most of the university's buildings are right at the Subte station. The people who live here right now are very nice and Susana is friendly and helpful. For those who don't speak good Spanish (like me) it might be useful to mention that Susana speaks English.

Hola Susana!

I just moved to Buenos Aires and decided to stay with Susana for a month before finding my own apartment.

Before I came, I was worried about moving into a place I found on Craig's list, but as soon as I arrived I felt right at home. Staying with Susana was all that I had hoped for and more! Not only did Susana share her home with me, but she also interacted with me on a daily basis. It was so nice to stay with someone that was so generous and cared about me and my needs. She was always willing to answer any questions that I had about the city and give advice about BA living.

I stayed in the Blue Room which was so nice and spacious. The bed was really comfortable and there was so much space to put all of my things.

In addition, the location couldn't be better. It's right in the middle of Avenida Santa Fe surrounded by tons of shops and restaurants. Anything I needed was just a couple of steps away. Also, I liked that I could walk alone at night and feel safe because it was such a wide and busy avenue.

I already miss the apartment so much! I would recommend it for anyone traveling in Buenos Aires!

Bonjour,

Nicolas

I used to live in the "Green Room" for one Semester and I had a great time here. Firstly, the location is great. Recoleta is one of the safest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. And the department is directly at Avenida Santa Fe. You can find here everything what you need (Laundry, Supermarket, Restaurants, etc.). It's one block from the Bus-Station and 3 blocks from the Subway-Station. You arrive Palermo in about 15-20 Minutes with the Bus (Place where all the Pubs and Clubs are). As well (what I think is very important) I could go out in the night without any problems, because you have here still always people walking around in the night. It gave a feeling of safety.
To the room: The room has everything what you need. Bed, cupboard, table, chair. It has a lot of natural light and there is cleaning lady, which cleans your room and is changing the bed linen. (Thank you for that Ester!)
Susana was a very nice and uncomplicated landlady. She is speaking very well English and Spanish and as you want to improve your Spanish just tell it and she won't speak English any more :) . If I had any questions or I needed some tips / help about Buenos Aires she took always time and explained everything very well.
For that I wanna say thank you very much Susana that you gave me a home in Buenos Aires and you've been one of the reason why I loved Buenos Aires so much. It was a great time!!

Hola Susana!!

I lived in Susana’s apartment from October of 2017 until April of 2018. I had a wonderful timing staying there. Susana was always helpful if I needed something and I was able to practice my Spanish with her and her family. The room was comfortable and bright and I felt right at home there. Susana’s apartment is extremely well located, within walking distance from subte D and all of the buses on Avenida Santa Fe. I can’t thank her and her family (including Fidel, the amazing little dog) enough for everything. I completely recommend the apartment to anyone looking!

I lived in Susana's home for two months, and over that short period I had an absolutely fantastic time. Not only is the apartment clean, well furnished, comfortable, and pretty much in the center of Buenos Aires, but what truly makes the experience special is Susana herself. Over the two months that I have been here, Susana has essentially been both a second mother and the grandmother that I never had in my own life. She possesses a phenomenal sense of humor, sharp intelligence, and a caring nature that always made me feel safe and watched over, yet completely independent and supported to do whatever I want. Susana quickly became a good friend, and I know that I will always stay in touch with her. If you are thinking of staying in Buenos Aires and want to practice your Spanish and get an authentic Argentinian experience then go no further than Susana. I highly highly recommend.

Valentin dijo...

I spent 3 months in Susanas home and couldn't have had a better stay. The biggest asset of this place compared to other places is surely Susana and how she makes your stay great. From day 1 till the end she gave me tips and recommendations about places, contacts of her and pretty much everything else you might ask for. Besides and actually more importantly, during my stay we would spend many evenings together eating and talking, where Susana has a thousand and one stories of her life and family members' lives that she loves to share. You will not be spared her hilarious and sharp sense of humor. It also helped me tremendously to practice my (Argentinean) Spanish daily with Susana. If you don't know any Spanish prior, you will learn it with her, believe me.
As for the area, it is super central, beautiful, safe, and full of attractions like bars, restaurants, cinemas, architecture, museums and green spaces. I could literally walk to my office at 9 de Julio.
Big recommendation for Susana's home!!

Leaving the home of Susana and Matías after spending four wonderful months there was hard. I loved living with them during my exchange at la Universidad Torcuato Di Tella and have no regrets electing for a homestay over renting an apartment with other exchange students.

A family friend recommended Susana to me and we met briefly for a coffee before I moved in. I was immediately charmed by Susana’s caring nature, sense of humour, and the characterful and cozy apartment she calls home. If you stay with Susana, you’ll have access to multiple modes of public transit (subway, buses, trains); a neighbourhood with many nice restaurants, cafes, markets, and landmarks; and a clean, spacious, and well-equipped home. I stayed in the green room and loved how the sunlight streamed in through its big window every morning and how quiet it was despite the busy avenue nearby. Aside from the physical space, spending time at Susana’s also lets you improve your Spanish, learn about authentic Argentine culture, and feel like you have a home away from home. Argentina is a complicated country, so living with a local who can help you understand the national “kilombo” (Argentine slang for “chaos”) and laugh about it makes a big difference. Susana truly cares and will always be there to help you and offer advice.

I learned a lot from my exchange, and much of that is thanks to Susana. While saying goodbye was sad, I’m leaving Buenos Aires with a full heart knowing that I’ll always have a home there thanks to Susana and Mati.
